From Dizzy anchors to Drizzling words

I woke up with a desire to read a newspaper… With news apps, notifications, and hawking news channels all around, the hobby of reading a newspaper had taken a back seat long ago.

Anyways, I went to the paper stall and for a moment found myself staring at those crisp white folded sheets, stacked neatly. In spite of different headlines, different languages, and different names, In front of me was an abode of information, perhaps the most eminent and evident medium that humans used for a long while, to get informed about events from the north, east, west, and south.

Reflecting on them converged a ton of memories ….

Those days were gone, long past, when every morning I would ride my bicycle to the paper stall and buy 6 newspapers… 5 Marathi and 1 English — “Sakal, Samna, Lokmat, Loksatta, Maharashtra Times ani Ek Indian Express dya “ would be my words..I often found people around staring at me, as I jolted back on wheels…. My grandpa is an avid reader..so much that even before the sun was overhead, he was done reading all of them…The English one was for me… He had told me that this was the best source to keep me updated and get a good grasp of English vocabulary (I am telling you the benefits of living with your grandparents are just infinite)…so needless to say, the fruits of this habit of paper-reading, I have been enjoying till date.

“5 rupay “, said the lady, bringing me back to the present… From 1/1.5 rupee, here we are to 5 rupee newspapers.. I gave the change and as I picked the paper, I felt a strong surge of emotions flowing around. I glanced at the paper, it was the same layout, those words- The Indian Express, the fresh black ink, and all those memories, of serene newspaper reading sessions… daunted over me… I quickly grabbed the folded paper…Today, cycle’s basket was replaced by Scooty’s Dickey…so with a hmm I kept the paper inside and got riding… On my way home I knew It was going to be a good day ahead, accompanied by a wave of thoughts striking this beach of mind every once in a while.

Today’s news anchors and the entire money game is just another scene of humor… Genuine, precise, and smart puns can only be found in these newspapers.

Sprinting towards fancy, user-friendly news apps, we have absolutely lost the user experience of flipping those crisp pages and reading a newspaper.
